Happy long weekend, Jontourage!
Dave and I are on our way out to the Red Lodge Guest Ranch, which is 11 KM West of Bowden on the 587 Highway in Alberta. We're going to be performing with loads of other Canadian musicians and bands in support of the Brandon Cole Scholarship Foundation, which is a non-profit organization that aims to stop bullying from happening before it starts, through education, and also provides scholarships to youths all over Alberta. You can read more about it here: http://www.brandoncolescholarshipfoundation.org/
Simon TJ was originally going to join us today, but had to back out due to unforeseen circumstances-- Godspeed dude, it won't be the same without you! :(
Hope to see some of the Jontourage out there today!
Talk soon,

Folking Awesome Tour Log
Saturday, 3 September 2011
Sunday, 28 August 2011
Home again but not for long!
Nice to see you, Jontourage!
Well the Folking Awesome Mini-Tour was overwhelmingly a success! We played three shows and busked when we thought were going to have two shows and lots of downtime, made lots of new fans, and best of all, made contact with lots of great venue owners and festival runners, all but assuring another successful tour of the Kootenays and beyond in the near future.
We'll be posting some video from Friday night's show once we put it together--it was definitely a good one!
A big thanks is in order to all of the people who took a chance on us, helped us out, came out to the shows, told their friends to come, and asked us to come back. So a big thanks to the following, hopefully I don't forget anyone:
In Invermere:
--Simon TJ's Mom and Dad, Ginger and Bill, for putting us up at their lovely house for three nights, when we'd originally only planned to stay for two!
--Mike, owner of McToogles, for booking us in last minute, comping our food and drink, and then putting out a tip jar, which helped out quite a bit with the cost of the tour and forced us to rehearse even more.
--The City of Invermere for allowing us to busk all over town that day, leading up to the gig at McToogles, and also resultant pizza money.
In Cranbrook And Kimberley:
--My good friend Alex Cwikowski and his wife Kelsey, who had originally offered us a place to stay in Cranbrook before things feel through-- thanks for the gesture guys, and we'll make sure to plan a visit soon!
--Freeman, the serving staff, and the whole Men's Night crowd at the Marysville Pub in Kimberley. Other than the financial element, the hospitality and great reception we received that night made us feel relaxed, and confident about the road ahead. We'll be sure to plan a date with you next time we're through!
--Ed the Soundguy, at Marysville. You told us you'd make us comfortable and sound awesome, and judging by the Men's Night reception, you didn't disappoint! Thanks again!
In Creston:
--Louise and the wonderful folks at the Snoring Sasquatch-- Your dedication to the promotion of our show was incredible, and we felt like capital R rockstars from the minute we walked into town until we were on our way back home. We feel honored to say that we played in such a beautiful venue! Also a big thanks to Jason-- not a lot of sound guys can perfect the mix so much that they're able to duck out if they have to--you're a pro!
--To Bill, Maureen, and everyone else at CIDO 97.7 FM-- thanks so much. It's not often you can just walk into a radio station these days and demand to be on air, but you guys were totally accommodating and will definitely be getting some CDs when they're finished! The crowd at the Squatch wouldn't have been as big without you!
-Bob! Thanks for helping us to record the show, and for being on standby if any of our gear didn't work the way we thought it would! I can see why you're a friend of the family!
-Penny & Dave-- The last thing we were expecting was to book another gig in the Kootenays immediately after we were finished this tour, let alone a headlining gig at Winterfest! We'll be in touch, and see you guys in January!
-Imagine Ink, Black Bear Books, and Kingfisher Books-- Thanks for your help in promoting the show! Without the posters and tickets, I'm not sure anyone would have known we were coming. Also thanks to Kaman Leung for designing that poster in the first place! You're so pro!
-The excellent staff at the Creston Hotel & Suites. Our room was tidy, cool, and had plenty of amenities! We'll call in advance when we're on our way back through! A++ Service.
-Also thanks to Rob & Cam for coming out from Calgary to see us! Sorry we chickened out and only played two sets!
Our greatest gratitude as well, to everyone who was in the audience as well! Hope to see everyone the next time we're through your town!
Finally, I'd like to personally thank my bandmates, Misters Simon TJ and David Andrew Wiebe. We did it guys! Hope you enjoy the last couple of days of vacation-- you've earned it!
Much love everyone, and to everyone I might have forgotten to thank, I apologize!
Peace,

Waking up Bigfoot
Oh hi, Jontourage!
So today's the day before the night that is the last night before we leave Supernatural British Columbia and head back home to Comfortable Calgary. It's been an awesome experience, and it seems like everyone enjoyed having us as much as we enjoyed being here, which means we're going to be back real soon.
We didn't take a lot of pictures or video, but expect the stuff that we did take to be incorporated into some sort of video of some kind afterward. Next time we'll bring a videographer/photographer along, promise!
Tonight's gig is at a really cool place called the Snoring Sasquatch here in Creston-- check out their website for more info and the write up on our show at http://www.snoringsasquatch.com.
We went all over town last night (it's really nice here and the weather is great!) and found our poster in almost every window of every business, and more than a few people have said that they're excited to see us play tonight--hopefully we don't disappoint!
Talk soon,

"Men's night?" and Restin' in Creston
Salutations Jontourage!
So last night was the first big night of the tour, a four hour night at the Marysville Pub in Kimberley. Walking in we were told it was "Men's Night". We're still not sure what that is, but it did seem to limit the number of female fans, and the dance floor was unsurprisingly not busy!
Luckily, everyone was still extremely excited to hear our songs, and even better, they liked our originals (both my own songs and Dave's) best of all. We're definitely going to make a trip back soon--thanks to Freeman, Ed the Sound Guy, and the Men's Night audience for making us feel awesome!
Today we're in Creston, with a break in the schedule, and so we went wandering around town. Five minutes of walking later we'd seen no less than 6 copies of our poster in windows and on street corners! It'd be nice to see the whole town at the gig--here's hoping!

*exhausted noise*
Greetings Jontourage!
So Invermere turned out to be more than just a stop over--we decided to play the "We're From Out Of Town Card", and unlike the few times we've tried that in Calgary, it actually worked! So, the band and I spent the day busking all around town and then convened at a fantastic establishment called McToogals, where we played for free dinner and tips.
There was a birthday party going on (Happy Birthday again Alina), and so the crowd was excellent! It wouldn't be classy to say how much we made, but I will let you know that we've balanced the chequebook at this point--just don't tell anyone I said that!
Thanks Invermere for being so awesome--Kimberley tomorrow! See you all at the Marysville Pub!
Thanks,

On the road!
Hullo Jontourage!
I type this from the middle of the highway one near Canmore, AB, which means we are well on our way! Dave has already gained several new nicknames and is currently trying to call police cars with his police car mating call (it sounds like a siren).
If it works, hopefully they have 3G in Canmore's Juvenille Hall, so we can blog once more before they realize he's 29!
Talk soon,
Jf and ff

Stayed up too late, feeling kind of bloggy...
Hey Jontourage!
Welcome to the dearest of diaries. This week, the band and I are officially on tour, playing a couple of stops in Kimberley and Creston, BC. In the old days, what happens in Creston would stay in Creston, until bootleg video courtesy of the drummer made it out into the black market via Betamax(tm)* and the whole world was shocked, appalled, and full of jealous admiration at the amazing exploits that took place there.
But we don't have a drummer to secretly film and leak shenanigans, and as sad as we were to see it go, we've reluctantly accepted the fact that Betamax(tm)* is no longer a viable black market format. So, with the power of the Internet (thanks Al Gore), we're cutting out the middle man and bringing you the wildest, craziest, most totally wicked awesome** road moments. There will be pictures, perhaps some video even. Just don't tell the middle man we're cutting him out. He's got a lot of space in that trunk ever since Betamax(tm)* died out.
Stay Friendly,
jf
*Betamax is a trademark of Sony Corporation. Though I'm not sure why they'd want to admit that.
**Actual amount of wild, crazy, and wicked awesome may vary, depending on the following or combinations of the following: Personal Perception, Willingness of People To Wear Funny Hats, and availability of Not Enough Sleep.
